Aurora Education Project News

A few changes have been made to the Photography page. The photos for Last Days of Light have been changed to an entirely new group of amazing polar bear and polar bear related photos. You're also going to want to check out the added picture (Bear Den) to the Summer's End group of pictures (previously Last Days of Light).

New videos have been posted to the site this week. These videos include footage of a Longtail Weasel, a Vole, and more great shots of the caribou migration that occurs in ANWR. Also, don't miss the new video on the polar bear. A new feature coming to the site shortly will be Letters From the Arctic. As the days grow shorter and the temperatures begin dropping you can read what it's like to experience a winter on the North Slope. Stay tuned.

Check the Photography page for new photos just posted. Day light is starting to burn away slowly before the long winter arrives. Then darkness falls until the spring. New videos are coming along with other new features that are really interesting. A new layout for the AEP Web site will be rolled out late fall or early winter. So, keep checking for updates and news. A few new "friends" will also be coming to the AEP site. More on this later.

I just received a package from ANWR the other day. It contained pictures taken though out the month of July. They have just been posted in the Photography section. I hope you enjoy them.

The videos are finally posted for viewing. Just click on the Video link from the main page to see what an Arctic blizzard is like. Make sure to check out the Introduction Video to the Aurora Education Project. This video will provide you with a good overview of the Project and a better understanding of what the project means to education. Feel free to contact me with any questions about the Project or if you would like to set up a live video broadcast from ANWR. Enjoy the videos. I think they are amazing when you realize that they are being filmed, edited, and produced, in the middle of nowhere, in a North Face tent.

The videos are coming soon. I am switching web hosts and when that is done the videos will be up and ready for downloading.

Welcome to the Aurora Education Project ("Aurora Project"). The Aurora web site is finally starting to take shape after a few months. It has been a slow start but it has been well worth the wait. The Photography page is up to date and has on display all the current photographs from ANWR. The Video page is starting to come together as well. The videos will be uploaded and available for viewing soon. I am hoping by the end of this coming weekend.

Other news that is great for the Aurora Education Project is in the July issue of Government Video. The July cover story features Art Smith in the rugged environment of the Arctic Circle. This article also discusses the inception and goals of the Aurora Project and lends insight to the link that exists between cutting edge technology and its' educational value. The limits of today's classrooms are now non-existent as tomorrow's technology is put to positive use.
