What are the facts?

Why is misinformation the rule?

Midst the conspicuous absence of media scrutiny, the contradictions and misleading statements offered of our designated representatives are presented for your examination. In dealing with an issue as sensitive as the compromise of North America's last remaining region of true wilderness, facts, truth and intent must be clear to the American people. I understand the implication of Washingtonians assign of "designated wilderness". I understand that the 1002 region of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge does not carry the status of "designated wilderness". The whim of political favor does not alter reality, neither does it create life nor the terms associated with it.

Free ranging natural herds of Bison no longer exist. The Grizzly has long since disappeared from the plains of the west. But for the reintroduction of Wolves, their populations are centered about a specific National Park. Lost is the space free of the sound of man's machine. The list could go on but the point is made, there is no political designation of "wilderness" that can alter the reality of our time: in the lower 48 no such natural space remains that could carry the true implication of wilderness. What that we would recreate, stands as a brief reflection of what once was: a sad reminder of what will never be again.

The 1002 Sanctuary remains intact as an integral and vital component of the Arctic ecosystem encompassing the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Unlike the distant thunder of the American Bison, the Porcupine and Central Arctic herds still roam freely. Unlike the California mountains stripped of the Golden Bear for which California so proudly boasts, the Grizzly and Polar Bear thrive within the refuge of unmolested sanctuary. The Wolf and Wolverine stand in silence; the magnificent Dall Sheep thrive in the nearby mountains. To not acknowledge that the 1002 is but at the core of the greatest remaining intact wilderness space offered of our world, in our time, is to live of such lie, such greed, such corruption of spirit that the soul of life stands in shadow of shame.

Audio track 1-Murkowski "small farm, 2000 acre" reference.

Audio track 2- Fox News twice presenting the 2000 acre reference in the same interview. I was challenged on the same point. How can a media be fair and balanced when they promote and further an agenda and the spread of propaganda? HR39 calls for 200,000 acres to be leased. Would it seem much less "news media" than a public relations arm for the further of oil interests.

Audio track 3- R. Glen, expert geologist spokesman for Washington delegation. ".... across that whole area(1002) ..." referring to oil exploration of the 1002. No 2000 acre reference in sight. The sprawl at Alpine is documented fact. No one in authority believes that 2000 acres is a valid number other than for the application of defrauding the public. The media present missed the inference of his remark, and continues locked on "2000" acres and off mark of the truth.

1 Murkowski "2000 acres"
2 Fox News "2000 acres"
3. Geologist- "all of it"
4. Murkowski "winter"
5. Murkowski "Barrow"
6.Murkowski "Opposition"
7. Domenici "Majority"
Audio track 4- Roads are active year-round. Oil field activity is not limited to winter. The support and infrastructure will be permanent: a real, physical surface occupation of the land. To suggest that winter oil related activity is incidental, is to portray blind indifference to critical Polar Bear habitat that is occupied throughout the winter.

Audio track 5- "... meet with ..ah ..ah ..many of the residents of Barrow ..." ??? How could this be when as per the delegation instruction, the Barrow meeting was in fact private, closed to the public. Local news reporters were denied access. Locked doors and security guards ensured the meeting remained private. What was discussed and with whom? Who paid for the privatization of our public officials?

Audio track 6- A demonstrated lack of interest in meeting with public, (Barrow). No public announcement of delegation arrival to Barter Island. It was only accidental that the delegation's last minute arrival time was ever discovered. How can the deflection to answer hard questions be characterized as discussion. Fact to the world: as of Sunday evening 3.12.2005 almost 60 individuals, nearly one half of Kaktovik's adult population oppose drilling. A recent petition will certify that number. As the number that abstain from taking side in this issue make up the margin for majority, whomever the delegation met with in Barrow, one thing is certain: they neither represent nor speak for the majority position in Kaktovik.

Audio track 7- To what overwhelming majority does he refer? At last count, the vote is close, both here (Kaktovik) and in Washington. From whom does he get the message? Perhaps the undisclosed participants at the private meeting in Barrow?
